FORWARD Performance Clinic

World-Class Canine Rehabilitation and Performance Programme

The Rehabilitation Team at Fitzpatrick Referrals is excited to be offering a new service dedicated to the needs of the canine athlete.

Having identified with some of our existing clients a need for a service that supports the maintenance and management of performance of dogs, we are excited to open our new FORWARD Performance Clinic, so we can help you and your canine partner in your chosen discipline.

Sporting and working dogs are much like the human athlete: they are highly driven to compete or work and will often continue to do so despite previous or current injuries.

With our new FORWARD clinic performance programme, we aim to support you and your canine partner through treatment, conditioning and maintenance, with the overall aim being to support and treat as well as provide you with the tools and insight to prevent recurrence or future problems.

FAQs

Who is the FORWARD Performance Clinic for?

No matter what the discipline, from high performance dogs doing agility competitions every weekend to the working or service dog, if you have an interest or a need to maintain your dog’s physical wellbeing and optimise and enhance their performance then our FORWARD Performance Clinic is for you.

Does my dog need to have a current problem to visit the FORWARD Performance Clinic?

This service is designed to give you the peace of mind that your dog is in the best shape to do their job. The clinic will provide helpful advice and practical guidance to help prevent injury and deterioration, and keep your dog working at their best for many years.

What does an initial consultation involve?

Upon referral from your vet, we will arrange an appointment for you with one of our ACPAT Chartered Physiotherapists for an initial consultation. This is 45 minutes and your allocated Physiotherapist will ask you a number of questions about your dog’s needs as well as a thorough health check and gait analysis. This assessment will aim to identify any current issues plus any potential problem areas related to your discipline.

From this consultation, a tailor-made treatment programme will be drawn up for you that is unique your dog. The programme will allow a speedy return to your dog’s activity by a variety of means including treatment, maintenance and prevention advice.

What treatments are available as part of the Performance Programme??

Treatments offered will be based entirely on the individual dog’s needs. This may be via the use of hands-on therapies, stretches, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy and sports specific exercises that allow conditioning of the body and strengthening of certain muscle groups. Certain sports and disciplines predispose the athlete to certain injuries.

How do I make an appointment?

To make an appointment you will need to speak to your primary care vet who will need to complete a FORWARD Performance Clinic referral request on your behalf. We will then receive the request and book with you a mutually convenient time for your consultation at our Rehabilitation Centre.

How much does it cost?
