Wards
Fitzpatrick Referrals has elevated animal care to a new level with our unique, custom designed wards, which are unlike any other kennel facility in the world.
We have a 'no bars' policy as we believe that animals should feel comfortable and at ease, not threatened or "in prison", especially when some of them will have severe physical disability. The reinforced glass doors, permit a wide field of view for the animals and allow them to feel as much at home as possible. Each kennel has a space for medication and notes, and a “quick reference” daily guide is written on the glass door each morning to ensure continuity of care and ease of visibility for all.
Every kennel has a radio and many are equipped with televisions to provide auditory and visual stimulation – creating a home from home experience for patients.
The wards boast bacterial-resistant wipe-down wall coverings and floor surfaces with underground heating, and air conditioning optimised for high efficiency particulate air to minimise the possibility of infection.
Light is an important part of the “care package” offered in the luxury wards, and numerous windows and night time dimmers provide a diurnal rhythm to help comfort anxious animals and help those with separation anxiety to settle.
Webcams are easily connected for remote viewing, and each and every patient is checked hourly by the 24 hour care team of ward assistants, fully qualified veterinary nurses, surgical interns, residents and senior clinicians.
Visitors are always astounded by how calm and serene the kennels are and we are confident that this positive, stress-free atmosphere contributes to reduced recovery time.
The wards offer the best facility imaginable for the care, recuperation and home from home feeling for pets.
Boarding at Fitzpatrick Referrals
As part of our end-to-end service objectives, we also offer a boarding service as an adjunct to our in-patient kennelling and treatment protocols.
We are aware that the requirements for care after certain procedures can be challenging to fit into hectic daily routines and one of our nursing staff will happily take care of any patient in our new centre with dedicated comfortable kennelling and round-the-clock monitoring when owners have challenges coping.
This is a common challenge with complex spinal and trauma cases and this unique service allows us to provide an integrated pain-management, nursing and rehabilitation program postoperatively and to support owners and their pets during this difficult time. Our physical therapist interacts with all cases as necessary upon request.
