Registered Veterinary Nurse Megan on the learning opportunities she’s experienced since joining our Guildford team
Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) Megan Corcoran works at Fitzpatrick Referrals Oncology and Soft Tissue hospital in Guildford, Surrey. For Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month she spoke to us about the learning and development opportunities she has experienced in referral nursing.
“Since joining Fitzpatrick Referrals in 2019, I have experienced a wealth of learning opportunities. Within my role as a rotating veterinary nurse, I get to work with and help patients with a wide range of complex oncology, soft tissue and internal medicine conditions every day.
I have received specialised RVN training in all departments of our soft tissue and oncology hospital. This included providing intensive care to patients in wards, advanced anaesthesia monitoring, involvement in surgical cases, and administering chemotherapy with the medical oncology team.
We regularly hold in-house CPD sessions, practical learning workshops, and journal clubs, which are made available to everyone at the hospital. These sessions are held by our world-renowned specialists, incredible interns and residents, and of course, talented nurses alike.”
