Exploded discs are sadly a common occurrence in dachshunds, but lightning strikes twice for the Wright family when brothers, Mark (presenter and broadcaster) and Josh (football manager and former professional player), bring in their family dogs, Dougie and Milly, at the same time with the exact same condition.

Treating intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) might be routine for Noel and his team but time is of the essence as initial lameness can deteriorate quickly into full-blown paralysis.

For everyone – Josh’s family, Mark, his wife, actor Michelle Keegan, and her parents Jackie and Dave – it’s an incredibly fraught time. This isn’t the first time Dougie has had a herniated disc and reoccurrence of the disease makes the family fear the worst.
