Summary

Two canine patients presented with various conformations of ectrodactyly and underwent orthogonal double plating, pancarpal arthrodesis and fusion podoplasty. Soft tissue reconstruction was performed in both patients to close the cleft and reconstruct the manus. Both patients had significantly improved limb use following surgery, but mechanical lameness remained due to carpal immobilisation. No long-term complications occurred after a 5-year follow-up in Patient 1. Patient 2 experienced a minor podoplasty breakdown that healed with conservative management. A portion of the medial plate became exposed 8 months post-surgery and was removed.
