Yesterday, Internal Medicine Specialist and Senior Clinician in Interventional Radiology Dr Gerard McLauchlan and Consultant Radiologist Dr Alex Horton (Royal Surrey Hospital) flew to the Veterinary School in Vienna, Austria to perform minimally invasive coiling of an intrahepatic shunt in two dogs.

This is the first time this procedure has been performed in Austria.

Gerard is the only specialist in Europe to have completed a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the Animal Medical Center in New York City and regularly performs this procedure and other minimally invasive techniques at Fitzpatrick Referrals.
