Dr Pete Swart

About

Pete graduated from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and has since built a diverse and international career in small animal surgery.

He began in Kimberley (South Africa), followed by three years in Saudi Arabia before relocating to the UK in the summer of 2024. He holds a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice from the University of Liverpool and recently completed a surgical internship at Fitzpatrick Referrals. In July 2025, Pete enrolled on the three-year European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) Surgery residency programme at Fitzpatrick Referrals and a referral hospital in Guildford.

His clinical interests include pelvic surgery, skin reconstruction, and the multimodal management of orthopaedic pain. Pete is dedicated to continuous professional development and is passionate about cultivating collaborative, high-performing clinical teams.

Outside of the clinic, Pete is an accomplished endurance athlete and has completed multiple ultramarathons, mountain bike stage races, and international trail running events. His goal is to keep learning, stay moving, and bring precision, energy, and care to every patient and team he supports.
