PATIENT STORY

Barney’s partially ruptured cranial cruciate ligament

Barney is back at Fitzpatrick Referrals to see Professor Noel Fitzpatrick and the team.

Gorgeous chocolate Labrador Barney is a regular at Fitzpatrick Referrals, and while Professor Noel Fitzpatrick is always pleased to see him and Barney’s dad, Radio 1’s Greg James, it does mean he’s having problems walking again.

After two previously successful operations on his other leg joints, poor arthritic Barney returns to see Noel with a partial progressive tear of his cranial cruciate ligament. An injury he’s already suffered on his other back leg. The suggestion from Noel is to repeat the same operation before Barney has another meniscal tear.

Time is of the essence, and for a very loved rescue like Barney and the entire James family, it’s a tense few weeks of recovery to get him back on his feet and back to doing what he loves most – chasing sticks.
