Celebrating a hat-trick of newly qualified specialists

Fitzpatrick Referrals is pleased to announce that registrars Padraig Egan, Susan Murphy, and anaesthetist Enzo Minghella have passed their board exams first time round to become EBVS® European Specialists.

Enzo Minghella, (DVM DipECVAA MRCVS) qualified as an EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia in December 2018 and works across both the orthopaedics and neurology, and oncology and soft tissue sites at Fitzpatrick Referrals. He joined Fitzpatrick Referrals in June 2017, after completing his residency in Veterinary Anesthesia at the School of Veterinary Medicine in Glasgow.

Pádraig and Susan qualified as EBVS® European Specialists in Small Animal Surgery earlier this month and returned to the practice to take up roles as Senior Surgeons – having completed both their internships and residencies at Fitzpatrick Referrals.

Pádraig Egan (BVM&S CertAVP (GSAS) DipECVS MRCVS) graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh, in 2007 and worked in a variety of general practice roles. In 2010, Pádraig joined Fitzpatrick Referrals as a duty vet and completed a one-year surgical internship. After completing his internship he fulfilled the role of clinical services coordinator followed by a period as operations manager. Pádraig returned to full-time clinical work in October 2014 to pursue his ambition of becoming a European boarded specialist surgeon and enrolled on a three-year European College of Veterinary Surgeons approved residency programme in small animal surgery.

After five years in general practice, Susan Murphy (MVB DipECVS MRCVS) enrolled in a surgical internship at Fitzpatrick Referrals in 2012. After completing her internship, like Padraig, she also fulfilled the role of clinical services coordinator for two years and returned to clinical work in January 2015 – enrolling on the three-year European College of Veterinary Surgeons approved residency programme in small animal surgery.

Commenting on their achievements, Managing Director of Fitzpatrick Referrals, Professor Noel Fitzpatrick said:
